Uzbekistan will be hosting the Para-Asian Youth Games in Tashkent in 2025, and preparations are already underway. To welcome athletes and spectators, the city is building a new paralympic stadium for the upcoming competitions. Tashkent is anticipating an enthusiastic welcome for about 1000 paralympic athletes and their fans in the lead-up to the games, as well as the increased tourism, business, and economic activity associated with the event.

For this civil works project, Sarens partnered with client CAMCE to provide two 60-tonne cranes, one 30-tonne crane, and 38-metre boom lift at the project site in the capital city of Tashkent. The equipment was assembled via blade trailers and is currently on-site.

Sarens’ work began in August of 2023 and is scheduled for completion in April of 2024. The crew is lifting 6-10 metre bundles of metal fittings for the stadium’s metal construction. However, weather conditions in Tashkent in winter can be harsh and cold, and recent -15℃ temperatures made it difficult to start the crane engines. Once the fuel was changed out for the winter fuel and systems cleaned, however, work could once again proceed smoothly.

Sarens is excited to be participating in such an important and inspiring project, and looks forward to cheering on the athletes, who hail from 45 different nations, when the Para-Asian Youth Games commence in September 2025!
