Sarens was asked by our client Equans to transport, weigh, and load out Hollandse Kust Noord topside module in Hoboken, Antwerp, Belgium. The load-out had to be performed on the tidal river Scheld, with a tide difference of +/- 6m resulting in high river current.
The load-out had to be planned in between two other load-outs and the equipment had to be transported on-site within a strict timeline. To deliver safely, the Sarens team deployed:
The equipment was moved in trucks and assembled in seven days. Our crew of nine first transported, weighed, and finally loaded out the 4.083T (58mx35mx44m) Hollandse Kust Noord transformer platform.
The module was loaded out on a rising tide of 1m/hour. Equans and Sarens meticulously planned each movement in advance to eliminate all possible problems. Heavy rainfalls further made the operation challenging. According to the Project Manager, Willem Ditmer, Project Manager of the operation mentioned: “Trustworthy equipment and well-trained operators ensured that the transport and load-out went smoothly. The client greatly appreciated our efforts.”
This project is an example of the ample experience Sarens possesses in load-ins and load-outs across the globe, always taking into consideration the time restrictions, site conditions, and safety parameters of the project at hand.
