Sarens was commissioned by SAES for TsATEK Green Energy” LLP project of installation of wind turbines during the pandemic.

The execution was planned keeping in mind the local guidelines for Covid-19. The team was divided into smaller batches to ensure they operate while maintain safe distance between them. Our installation experts travelling from outside the country were brought to the site after working on permissions from local authorities.

The team decided to deploy:

·       CC2500-1 (500T) in 102m SSL/LSL configuration as it has good capacity on long boom.

·       AC 500-1 with HA configuration as pre-assembly crane as it is easy and quick to set-up and relocate

·       AC 200-1

·       2 X Tadano ATF-130G

·       3 forklift

·       AC500 (500T)

The equipment was transported from Sarens Kazakhstan base in Atyrau, around 2500km away. Around 30 railway wagons transported most of the crawler crane and mobile crane parts along with road transport. Getting permissions was challenging during pandemic and it took around 3 weeks to transport and rig the cranes.

CC2500-1 installed the fourteen wind turbines, each having:

·       3 tower sections (with heaviest section weighing 67T)

·       a nacelle weighing 65T

·       a drive train weighing 53T

·       a hub section weighing 32T

·       3 blades weighing 14T

The nacelle was lifted at a height of 78m. Our team of 80 wind experts installed the fourteen wind turbines in 3.5 months.

According to Alok Gupta, Project Manager, “Our challenge was to finish the job before winters hit the Astana city as the temperature drops to -30 degrees with lot of snow & wind. With our SHEQ best practices our team achieved zero breakdown, zero loss of man hours, and zero incident report throughout the execution phase of the project.”
