Sarens is pleased to announce the purchase of two new cranes, the LG 1750 SX and LTM 1450-8.1. The brand new LG 1750 SX is a 750-tonne lattice boom crane mounted on an 8-axle truck chassis. It was recently delivered to Australia, where it has started work on the Sapphire wind turbine installation project for Vestas. The new LTM 1450-8.1, a 450-tonne capacity class all-terrain crane, is also new to the Australian fleet. It will soon be deployed on a project for Carcon.

Both cranes will work on several wind projects in the coming years, thanks to Australia's active renewable industry. The country is set to erect 2.500 wind turbines within the next 3-5 years. Sarens has already emerged as the reference in this industry, successfully installing several wind farms in Australia over the past ten years. The two new LR cranes have been added to the fleet in anticipation of the growing renewables market in the country.

More about the LG 1750 SX

The LG 1750 SX was developed with the wind market in mind. However, it can also be used in general industry as a heavy lifting crane. It boasts a 155-metre main boom, a derrick back mast (super lift), and a fixed jib of 12 metres. This is a typical configuration for installing larger wind turbines. It can also be equipped with the 6m-wide boom system SX2 to give it more stiffness and ultimately a higher capacity. This makes it future-proof in the wind market, where weights and lifting heights are constantly increasing.

While the LG 1750 crane model has been in use for several years, the SX version is the "mother of all LG 1750s" and is a real break from previous boom system upgrades. The main difference is its 3.5-metre wide boom system, as compared to previous 3-metre boom versions. This gives it a significant increase in capacity.

More about the LTM 1450-8.1

The LTM 1450-8.1 has an 85-metre telescopic boom and 35-metre lattice boom extension (fixed jib). Optionally, it can be equipped with an 84-metre luffing jib. It was developed as a simple, quickly deployable crane with low mobilisation time and cost. Because of this, it is not equipped with the usual guided boom (super lift) that most 400-500t cranes have. However, its design means it brings sufficient capacity for many jobs.

The LTM 1450-8.1 will be used as an auxiliary crane on wind farm projects, where a larger 500t with super lift would normally have been needed. This crane does the job well without the need for super lift. It also has very broad applications, ranging from 'taxi' jobs (its quick set-up time means it can perform several jobs in one day), as well as project work.

Safety standards

Both new cranes are fully compliant with applicable safety standards and also have the latest available safety features. The LTM 1450-8.1, for example, is equipped with the Variobase system, which enables each of the four crane outriggers to be extended to a different length. The crane's on-board control system measures the outrigger lengths along with other parameters, creating a safer working environment by eliminating human error during rigging and crane operations.
